Within the HYDRA Network we are supporting research partners, media and stakeholders with solutions based on the experience we have been acquiring for almost three decades in the aquatic sector. Our assignments and expeditions led us to a huge variety of waters, from high-alpine lakes to the Dead Sea; to streams and rivers; from Antarctica, through the Mediterranean Sea to the tropical reefs of the Caribbean, Australia and South-East Asia. Our direct knowledge about such different ecosystems is a resource we share with our guests, partners and clients. In our Research and Test Center in Bühl we test materials and develop and refine methods to tests biodegradation in soil, freshwater and marine habitats.
HYDRA Marine Sciences is the first testing laboratory (PL340) recognized for the testing for the DIN CERTCO Certifications 'BIODEGRADABLE IN MARINE ENVIRONMENT' and 'BIODEGRADABLE IN MARINE ENVIRONMENT plus'.
The EU Project REBIOLUTION (2023-2026) which received a partial funding of 5 million € under grant agreement n. 101036768 unites 9 partners from all over Europe. REBIOLUTION aims to design and synthetize novel fully bio-based and biodegradable polyester blends based on 2,5-Furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) and other bio-based monomers fit for specific product-market applications. HYDRA is the responsible partner for biodegradation testing in marine and freshwater environments and with this supports the design and optimization of these novel materials from the beginning.
